Since you are looking around and found the Elephant Spirit Blog, let me tell you how this all started.
When I was three years old, my dad said to me "Gaylene, I am going to the store. Can I bring you anything?" (My dad thinks he’s funny by asking a three-year-old something like that). The story goes that I sat there for a moment, hand on my chin, then very pensively responded "Bring me... an Elephant!" (And my Dad is the best! He drove around for an extra 45 minutes until he found an elephant for his daughter).
So, from the time I can remember, I have collected elephants.
Fast forward:
In 2016, some friends of mine who own a boutique shop down the street asked if I would be willing to create a video fundraiser they were hosting to help raise money for a young woman who was going to Thailand to volunteer at Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary for abused elephants.
While creating the video I did a bunch of research on Elephant Nature Park and realized how badly elephants in tourism trades are treated.
The fundraiser was a success, and I realized at that moment that I could do more to help the elephant sanctuaries.
In early 2017, ELEPHANT SPIRIT was created, and I began selling elephant-themed items at local shops. A year later, I took it a step further and started figuring out how to reach a wider audience in order to raise more money for the sanctuaries.
And now, in 2019, Elephant Spirit has launched our own clothing line, and the reception has been incredibly encouraging.
We would sincerely like to thank all of the customers who have supported our efforts and are helping us to grow - and helping Elephants to live a better life!!
